Summer is coming to an end, but we are still having lots of fun exploring the park. Children ages 3-5 and an accompanying adult are invited to join us as we discover the wonders of the world Outside the Window on the first and third Fridays of Septemberfrom 10:00-11:00 a.m. Through books, crafts and outdoor activities, we will discover Dragonflies on September 3rd and learn about Mallards and Wood Ducks and Geese, Oh My! on September 17th. Pre-registration is required by calling 833-7424. Cost is $3 per child. We will be outside, so please dress appropriately for the weather.

See great blue herons, migrating waterfowl and perhaps a bald eagle or osprey during one of the last glimpses of summer in Presque Isle’s interior lagoons. This will be a relaxing paddle of sights and sounds of the park. Bring your own kayak or canoe, paddle and pfd. No fee. No registration.

Animals such as deer, coyote, raccoons, and many others take advantage of Presque Isle, after dark. Join a Naturalist at Duck Pond Trail to learn about the unique behavior of these nocturnal creatures. Learn some fun facts about the wildlife that appear along Duck Pond Trail as the sun goes down. Dress appropriate for the outdoors. The walk will be about 2 miles.

As summer comes to a close, many wildflowers are still in bloom. Join park staff and guest naturalist, Andrew Sipple for an opportunity to explore the unique wildflowers at Presque Isle State Park. We will be walking approximately 2 miles. Bring your camera and wildflower ID guide or borrow one of our field guides. No fee, no registration required.

There are more species of insects in the world than all other types of animals, combined! Join a naturalist to explore the internal trails using bug nets, bug boxes and field guides to discover what is flying and crawling on the park. No registration. Long pants and socks are recommended. All ages.
